Before I call the doctor I thought I'd consult all of you. My DS is unhappy with the large amount of sweat that he produces in his armpits on a regular basis. IMO, he doesn't smell badly, but the excess sweat is a problem for him. Do any of your kids use anything beyond the normal OTC deodorants? I've heard of two, Drysol (prescription) and Maxim (OTC).
Thanks in advance. I know I count on you for good advice.

My DD uses an anti-perspirant called Certain-Dri. When her hormones kicked in, her sweat glands went into overdrive. It was quite a trauma and an embarrassment for her! We tried all the otc anti-perspirants on the shelf and nothing worked because in spite of what the front of the label said, we found that the ingredients were pretty much the same thing in each one.
We had to special order the Certain-Dri through a local pharmacy because it isn't a brand that is carried on the shelf. I am pretty sure you can order it on-line as well, like through drugstore.com or someplace like that.
Anyway, the Certain-Dri is applied at night before bed. DD usually also uses a deodorant in the morning for odor protection -- just regular Soft-n-Dri or something. This combination has worked very well for her, but I do recommend the Certain-Dri for wetness control.
Hope this helps!

My DD uses Certain-Dri too. Actually, I'm embarassed to say she was using it for a while and I didn't know. She puts it on at night before bed (and I'm usually asleep by then). Anyway, when I asked her a couple of weeks ago (when I was "helping" her clean her room), she told me it works, and she's noticed a real difference.

Thanks, I'm going to look into it. In fact, I'm going on drugstore.com right now.

DH has to alternate brands; it's as if he builds up a tolerance
By that I mean he buys 2 and alternates daily and then buys a different two next time around.
My DH found Certain-Dry at the drugstore and so my DS will start with that tonight. I told him to give it one week and if he doesn't see any significant improvement than he'll have to visit the doctor for something stronger. I can see how someone would build up tolerance for one type of antipersperant. I'm hoping the Certain-Dry works good enough so that we don't have to persue this further. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :)
Thanks so much for all the advice. I knew I count on you for good information.
