Hi Guys,
I wrote here last month about my 16 yr old ds wanting to switch from football to soccer--as a JUNIOR....and all the downfalls that could bring.
I forced my hand in making him attend football camp JUST IN CASE soccer didn't work out and he wanted to return to football........he SWORE to me that even if he didn't make soccer he WAS NOT going to play football.......but he begrudgingly agreed to the arrangement. He was going to play for a summer soccer league and allow the coach to evaluate him in July--
Lo and behold, he is skipping soccer completely for football. I've encouraged him to go ahead and continue w/ his plans to play summer soccer, and he says no....that he's happy once again w/ football.
I'm confused, and although I expected this to a degree--I'm mildly worried that he's conforming to what he thinks WE want....my DH and I have had lengthy discussions w/ him about supporting him in WHATEVER endeavor he chooses, but not burning his bridges w/ the football coaches prematurely.
So, despite my encouragement to stick w/ the plan regarding soccer this summer, he's saying no.......I wish I could do Grace's (from Will and Grace) 'told ya so' dance.
Just like I was given such good advice to let him choose his own path....I hope that he is doing so for him...I don't care if he plays football, or soccer or does drama/debate!! I just want him to think of ramifications of rash decisions.....but anyway....he's playing football.....and let's hope he continues his previous success!
