St. Nick's Day?

Does anyone here do St. Nick's day? Dh and his sibs would wake on on December 6th to find their shoes lined up on the stairway filled with apples, oranges and a small toy or treat. Whe we got married, he would fill one of my shoes in the same way. I tried and tried to remember to do it for him and succeeded only a time or two. When dd came along, we started the tradition with her (sadly, this was the end of my shoe being filled).

When she was little enough to believe in Santa, she was always a little puzzled that her friend's shoes did not get filled. It's really sweet, beause she never remembers the date and she's always surprised.

Can't wait to put the shoe out tomorrow morning! I have some homemade body scrub and lip gloss (made by a friend of mine), clementines, apples and a couple of magazines.

Just wondered if anyone else did this.....

Oh, your son is so sweet!

It really is a fun tradtion. Dd was surprised, as she is every year! I heard her talking on the phone to a friend about it later in the day. It's amazing how they pay attention to the little things (sometimes.....)

We celebrated "Little Christmas" as we called it on January 6th also! I grew up in NY, 2nd generation Americans, but my grandparents who came over in the early 1900's lived with us. My mom loved this celebration because she was able to buy stuff half off after Christmas and save money (there were five kids)!!

I really don't 'celebrate' it these days, but I always think about my childhood on that day.

Yup; we're equal in height right now (5'6.5"; he was 13 in Aug) but he wears a men's 11.5 shoe. The 12-13 Homers fit well. Sheesh. (DH is 6'3.5" so he has a ways to go, but dh is only an 11.5 so I think ds will have gun boats)
