Hi everyone,

I haven't been around for quite a while but when I come to a quandry, I know where to come for the best advice... so, I just wanted to poll you all about the latest debacle.

My DD will be graduating this month and has this misconception that she'll be out every night until her weekend curfew (12:30)

Do you have a graduate and how did you handle adjusting your rules (if at all) for your graduate?

I'm thinking of requiring that she be in the house before 11 on weeknights and regular 12:30 curfew on weekend nights, but I'm still pondering... or maybe I'll give her to 1AM on weekend nights, not sure.

Her chore list won't change until, of course, she moves.

Anyway, just curious to see what you all have done.

Hope all has been well for you all!

Yes, I agree... Her curfew on weekends is 12:30, but she actually rarely came home that late simply because it didn't make sense. I never went for the just hanging out thing either. She always let me know where she was going, who she was with, etc.

Actually, maybe I'll just see how things go with her - she has been trustworthy, so I'll see how she manages herself and if it looks like she is abusing the privilege, so to speak, then I'll reign her in.

I did tell her that I didn't know what I was going to do with curfews for her over the summer but I did know that she still needed to be courteous to the rest of the house and not come home late when the rest of us have to wake up the next morning and go to work!

Especially me - I wait up for her! because I can't sleep until I know that chicks are in the nest, too! (Though, admittedly, I fall asleep on the couch around 9:30 LOL!)

At the end of last summer I did finally on occasion go to bed but would put the chime on the door alarm so I could make sure Jason came in on time.

I have a 18 year old graduate. She was always in by eleven since she started to drive, that was the curfew for junior license. Now that she is 18 and it is summer, I take situation to situation. I like not much past 12:30, but I like to think I know all of her friends and if they are watching movies or something like that, I can go till 1.

Like I saw on the other post, she will be in college next year, no telling what time she come in!!!!!!!!
