Teen Birthday Patries

I have a son turning 12 and daughter turning 14 soon. We have done every birhtday party I can think of (bowling, roller skating, Chuck E Cheese, sleepovers and more). Any creative ideas for party destinations? we've done parties together and seperately and are open to either option this year...

Any new and different thoughts would be appreciated!

We've done all home birthday parties for my DD15 and DS7 - it's more work, but I enjoy it and the kids like having their friends here. For your daughter, I'd guess that a sleepover with 4 or 5 best friends is fine - that's what my DD had the past couple of years - they rent DVDs, buy pig out food, talk about school, complain about parents, and draw silly things on whoever falls asleep first (some things have NOT changed in the past 30 years LOL). For your 12yo - I haven't been here yet - I'm guessing that my son's parties won't last at home as long as my daughter's did - 10 boys is MUCH wilder than 10 girls LOLOL - what about miniature golf? Going to a movie and then out to dinner (and sitting at their own table - no parents) could be fun at this age.

Is there a laser tag close by? This could be fun for all of the together.

For the girls, I took mine and about 4 of her friends to another town to their mall (bigger and better than ours) and then out to eat. Don't have boys so not too sure about them. Another suggestion for girls, if you know of a college age girl that likes to play with make-up, hair or nails, you might get them (or pay them) to come do makeovers. Have each girl bring their own make-up but you might buy a funny mud-mask bottle and have them do mud-masks and then make-up, nails and hair. I did that with a group of girls about that age for girl's night out at church and they had a total blast.

Have fun!

When one of my sons' was about that age, I rented a couple of local motel rooms that had an indoor pool (his bd is in Nov) so he could have a swim party. We only had like 6-7 boys at the absolute most. I got the rooms that had the connecting door so I could go in or out as I chose (or needed to). I told them if they locked that door, we would be leaving immediatly. We ordered in pizza and I brought a cooler of soft drinks and lots of chips and stuff. They had a ball.
