My 16 yr old DS had this GF who he kept "going out" with and breaking up with--I think they did this 8 times through 8th & 9th grade, even when they weren't actually "going" anywhere, but it was always some kind of drama.

I think older sister’s answer was a good one.
We had two “teen drama queens” living at our house, still do, but we never had this type issue.
