This is my day for asking for help, I guess. My DS13 is really into music--pretty much everything, but it seems like he is gravitating towards some punk-type of music lately. I have long since given up trying to keep up with everything my kids listen to. With iPods and iTunes, etc., it has gotten way beyond me. My DS spends an awful lot of time looking up bands and looking for concerts to go to. He has only been to 2 concerts so far, which I think is plenty for someone his age, but he is constantly wheedling me to take him to more. He found a concert in a town about an hour away from us and asked a friend of his to go with us. Her mom called and I felt like a complete idiot because I don't know much at all about this band. It seems, from a quick Internet search, that they are OK--certainly nothing extreme.
My question is--do you check out the bands your kids listen to, and if so, how do you do it? I do listen to my kids' music on the car radio all the time, and I like a lot of it, but some of the things my son finds aren't on the regular radio stations. The mom who called told me that sometimes, even if a group is OK, the fan base that comes to their concerts can be kind of rough. How can I check this out??

I'm really glad that the nearest venue for concerts is almost 2 hours away!
I've always listened (not always by choice) to what my kids listen to, and I actually like some of it, and others is just trash IMO.
I usually listen to my kids music in the car too. But right now I am listening to the all Christmas station in our area. LOL Kelsie is not a happy camper with that.
I don't know how to check out such a thing, except that you might want to post the name of the band here and see if anyone is familiar with their music or concerts.
I have listened to alot of the same music my dd enjoys.
