It does sound like she's struggling - the boy thing along with the grades seems to indicate that something's up with her.

My two pennies ....

This is a girl with serious self-esteem issues, and the one way she knows best to boost herself up is to get as much attention from the opposite sex as possible.

This sounds petty, and I don't mean to downplay how serious this is to you, but all i can think of is: I wish I could see a picture of this girl.

When you meet these new callers, maybe keep announcing how her dad will be home soon, and that he knows how to use a gun....lol, just kidding

LOL This reminds me of when N & T first started dating.

I've seen girls acting the way you describe and wondered if their parents knew and were paying attention the situation as you are (which I think you are absolutely right to do).

Just a thought - could you get your DD away from the vicinity of all this drama and have a real heart-to-heart? Like maybe in the next city or something; make it fun but maybe prompt her to open up?

Girl peers can also be a good influence on this type of thing.

Also, if it's any consolation, I remember my DD doing some things that I didn't like that made her look ridiculous but she was totally in denial about how she came across. Used to drive me crazy. She's grown up a lot and those behaviors are gone.
