DD15 is in a fashion design/sewing class for an elective, which is really her "thing".

She sounds like me...

When I was in 8th grade I sent notes to two of my uncles telling them they should pitch in and help my grandfather (their dad) as my mom's sister who'd been helping him had passed and my mom and dad and I went over weekly to help with cleaning and groceries, and they did nothing. (needless to say, my mom was mortified)

And then as a sophomore, my English teacher told us she hated eggs. So we put raw eggs in a margarine container in her mailbox at school. Just a prank, but...

I didn't sit still either. Somewhat embarrassing now, but I would see myself doing it again if I had to do it over!

Sounds like a 'communist organization' to me! LOLOL

Maybe you can direct your DD towards a worthwhile 'cause'? Right now, DD is very keen on the "Invisible Children' campaign her school is promoting and wants to attend an 'all-night sleep-out-in-the-street' event the local chapter is sponsoring -- in LA later this month. The on-campus club is trying to get the school to sponsor and chaperone the event, which I think would really be a neat experience and would even attend with her. Although sleeping in the street has virtually NO appeal for me, I feel the campaign is very worthwhile.
