Last night both 16yo DD and 11yo DS went to (separate) Halloween parties and left DH & me home alone with our new puppy.

Hi...I sympathize and absolutely have these very same moods. Of course it's natural and the way it's supposed to go, but it still makes me sad and lonely.
I have 3 kids, also. DS-22 moved out on his own a couple of months ago. He is nearby, but still I miss him. The first weeks I kept thinking I heard him moving about, LOL.
DD-18 is in college and works and is on the go go go. She has little free time and when she does, of course she wants to see her boyfriend or other friends.
DD-16 is a junior in HS. She is the only one I see a lot of these days.
What can I say? Sigh....
The other day, I ran into the mom of HS classmates of my kids.
