Sorry all of you in the midwest are getting hit again with another bout of lousy weather. I'm so glad we moved from MI to VA, even though the traffic here is horrendous. The bad weather will hit us eventually, I'm sure, but so far we've really lucked out.
Today my sister, her SO and I went hiking in Shenandoah. It was sunny, 65 degrees and so peaceful...hardly any cars on the road, one biker, one worker clearing ice-damaged trees from the trail, and a couple of hawks soaring above. We had a great view of the valley. There were signs that a bear had been scratching around; fortunately we didn't see him.
I live in a fairly benign area weather wise...tornadoes are rare but they do occur...hurricanes become tropical storms by the time they get up here...I recall one earthquake...barely detectable to most everyone. Haven't even had a bad blizzard in years. We do get spring floods.
I did live through Hurricane Andrew when I lived in Florida. We were fortunate, but so many others were not.
Ontario, including where I am, was under a tornado watch too.
Today we have double digit (in C), above zero temperatures. There are flood watches. RIDICULOUS!! We also have zero visibility because of fog. The airport was closed yesterday
I have noticed that the weather is drastically changing since Katrina back in 05... take today's weather... last thursday it was -15 here with a high of 4... today its 65... we were getting feet of snow in a day now feet are melting...
something is going on.. the earth is trying to fix itself somehow

Oh my.
Pam,
I keep seeing Illinois on the radar, and am not sure where the storms are compared to you.

Definitely a bizarre pattern.
