hey everyone here is an update on my dad. they released him last night after being in the er for over 6 hrs. they did a cat scan and blood work.

I may not be a stroke, but it is certainly not "lazy eye". The fact that his eyes are SUDDENLY not working together signals a bigger problem, so don't let the drs blow you off. ESPECIALLY the VA drs. They are the LEAST inclined to look further than their noses for the source of a problem, especially in someone older(even tho 62 isn't OLD). A friends' father died because the symptoms the ER/VA attributed to an untreatable stroke in an 82yo, was really TREATABLE encephalitis--but he was never given the correct medication.

dad has to follow up with his VA doctors this coming week. thanks for the prayers everyone, they go along way


I hope you continue to get good news, and I'll keep your dad in my prayers. I know how stressful this can be; my stepdad of 40 years died in June. I hope your parents have a long and stress-free retirement! :)

i truely believe it was a TIA. my grandma his mom had many of them before they were able to determine that, thats what it was.

I agree with the others who said your dad needs a more extensive workup. Stroke or TIA is definitely a possibility, as is a brain tumor, encephalitis, and any number of other things that could go wrong. Keep pushing until you get a diagnosis that makes sense in light of ALL of his symptoms. He's on the young side for a stroke, but it isn't unheard of for people even in their 30s to have one. Prayers for your dad.
