sorry it took me so long to get back on but have been very busy running the kids around and work, anyway...up date, got a call at approx 2:30 p.m. which would be the time school would let out and play practice would begin. it was the number from a friend's cell phone. it was my son, and his first words were "hey" ...well, what he did was and one of you hit it on the head (2 things) first, and formost, he was missing those title cards that he asked me for and if they were not handed in, he would ge a zero in that class .. and yes, he did not want to go because of MLK day and should have had off but he would have gone any way if his work was done. if i did not find those cards in the laundry, i would not have known..the school does not call to ck where they are..that's scarey. anyway, he and his friend went to his friend's mom's house where the mom is in Brizil and the husband was home(not his father) and it did not click w/the guy that there was school cuz of the holiday. so they hung out there for a while and then went to a movie and made it back to school for the play that they are both in. Yes, i skipped too. we were not too hard on him. his friends really weren't covering for him..none of them really knew where he was. actually, a few of them through out the day texted me and asked if i heard from him yet and I know one in particular chewed him out for the worring. i also indicated to him about having his cell phone. he was ground from the computer for a while(which is his life) and he was not allowed to attend a game party at his friends the next evening. Now his friend that was the driver (he calls me mom) dad is deceased, mom is in brizil and he resides w/grandma...anyway, he left me a note apologizing and asking and hoping that he can regain my trust in him someday and that he will never abuse my generosity again.touching ha? anyway they are safe and sound. and it is the first skip and he's a junior. better record than his father had in high school...i can joke now but i was terrified at the time, you just never know. peace for now and i have another problem i will post. thanks to all of your support and it did make me feel a little better at the tone of your posts that it was probably nothing to worry about and a reminder that kids skip. :)

Glad to hear he's safe and sound! I used to skip school occasionally (although I tended to cut particular classes, as opposed to the whole day), but until you're a parent, you never realize how scary it can be not knowing where your kids are!

Thanks for letting us know that he is safe and sound. This is such a hard age and it didn't help that I skipped patience class before coming a mom!!
