Okay, its been awhile since I last posted. My son is doing really well now. I am still having problems with our insurance provider (something about birthdate and getting people to call me back) but, we have a wonderful next door neighbor with a great daughter thats been through all of this. We have been keeping an open dialog with her and talking to our son and things are looking up. I finally found a wonderful school in Midland that we drive to everyday for him to go to school. Its just me and him and we talk about everything on the way to and from school. Its a small charter school and is just what he needed to keep him busy. He is the only junior thats taking Algebra 2 and from what my sis told me it sounds like college course. The school actually picked his electives which I really did not understand that but he loves all of his classes. Horticulture of all things..lol He and one other guy is in this class and they get to landscape the grounds to this school. He also takes computer courses for excell and other programs. He cut his hair to make a good impression on the principal. He really didn't have to but if you knew my son this haircut is a HUGE thing. We let our kids express themselves with their clothes and hair so, we are pretty leanient with how they have their hair. He looks so grown up, i admit it I cried when he cut it but he is just so handsome anyway..lol Since he has been at home alot and has not smoked anything, he is a different kiddoe. He is not so angry at the world and me. Just the other day he actually put the towels in the dryer to help me out and is really cool with his brother. I know these are small things but I just needed my son back to his great self. Yes, we are still working on counseling and getting him help. But this is a HUGE step in a direction that I have been hoping for. His dad let him go visit some of his friends for a little bit but reminded him of how it really sucked being grounded to the house and could not talk to anyone. He told me that he talked to some of his friends about not smoking anymore and if they couldn't deal with that then maybe they weren't his real friends. WOW, I really was very proud of him for that. We haven't given all priveldges back and he has to check in with us every 2 hours. Not just phone calls but actually come by and check in. He said that he didn't want to go back to all of fighting with us and his brother and feels pretty good about himself. I just want to jump up and down and do the running man...lol Small things just mean so much to me, him talking to me again and him excited about school... I am crying right now,sorry.... I love my boys so much and I want them to just be happy and have a wonderful life. Also, I would like ya'll to know I have a wonderful hubby that has kept me sane (somewhat..lol) through all of this and has just been by my side and a rock for our son. I thank god everyday for him and all of you that had some encouraging words for a crazed mom going through the wonderful world of teenagers. Thank you all.. Enough of this, HOW ARE ALL OF YOU?!lol

I am so glad that he is doing well and so are you. Sometimes kids just need a kick in the pants and an I love you to get back on track and it sounds like you gave him what he needed.
Hope to see you around the board. Drop in any time.

Thank you so very much for the encouragement and the help! He is doing wonderful in this new school. When he was in the 7th grade he would get mad at us if we kept him home because he was sick and he really wanted to go to school. He has that want again. We are still working on counseling and he hasn't got all of his privelges back, but he has to earn our trust again. Its like I have the kiddoe that used to talk to me and let me know whats going on and actually wants to! I am so proud of him and he has his self esteem back. I just want to say thank you for helping us through this. If there is ever anything I can do to help anyone in here I will do it! Have a good day and thank you!

Wow,I am new to the board so don't know the whole story but it is so encouraging to us parents who are just starting down the "parenting of a teen" road.Sounds like you did what you had to do as parents and all is working out well.I hope most of us never have to go through what your family is going through. However,it is nice to know there are so many wonderful "strangers and friends" on this board to give advice and share tips.

Have a wonderful day everyone,

Shelley
