Isn't it something!
U of I is closed for the first time since '79.
DH is in Iowa and due home today-driving. I need to call him later and suggest he stay put.
We are supposed to go see "The Producers" in Springfield tomorrow for Valentines Day but it isnt looking too promising :(
I cant focus on working because I feel like this is a school 'snow day'. And considering it almost 11 and my work phone has yet to ring, I must not be the only one playing the day away
Pam,
Part of me wants to reminisce about the "good ol' days" (I grew up in Iowa), as I can clearly remember the youthful thrill of everything shuting down and everyone staying home or going outside to play in the snow!! The other part of me (the older part) says, I'm glad I'm away from that kind of nastiness (and have been for quite some time now)!
Stay safe all of you who are going through bad weather!!
Amelia
You'll have to tell me how it is Friday - we were hoping to go to Chicago to see my parents. We're only getting 2-4" here in STL and it's just pretty, and of course hard for those around here who aren't used to driving in snow, to get around. I'm sticking it out at work as there's no point in fighting the sliders til the snow stops.

We are at the southern edge of the Blizzard Warning here in Indiana but our precipitation hasn't turned over to snow yet. We've been getting a nasty mix of ice and sleet since about 5:00 yesterday afternoon. There is about two inches of ice on the roads now, and they expect it to change to all snow in the next couple hours. The wind is just awful.
Our schools are closed, and they even closed Indiana State Univ- first time since the Blizzard of 1978!- but Rose-Hulman where DH works is still open so he is at work. I hope he chooses to send his office home soon so he can leave too.
DS is still sleeping- I woke him at 7 am to tell him school was cancelled and to shut off his alarm and he told me he planning to "catch up on zzzz's" today and would go out shovel the snow later. DD is spending her day making a Valentine photo album for her sweetie and "window shopping" online, and I am alternating between snuggling on the sofa with the dog and playing on the computer. This is definitely a good day to just stay home!
Not that I would *wish* it on y'all...but, better you than me! LOL I hate the ice and snow and cold and wind...I swear, it's been a funky winter all over the US this year.
With all the snow and wind, it definitely sounds like a stay-at-home day. Keep warm and stay safe.
The storm is hitting us tonight/tomorrow.
