Hi all,

Dh and I are trying to think of somewhere to go with the kids in mid July. We have 16 DS 14 DS and 6 DD. We haven't been on a beach trip in so long cause the boys get board :( We usually go skiing during spring break and everyone is happy. I think that DH and I would love to find a spot where the boys can do some fun stuff, and we could actually sit on a beach and relax. DD is still young enough that she would be happy playing in the sand and the water :) Any ideas or favorite spots you all have?

Thank,

Julie

Thanks Karin,

That is exactly what I was looking for :) Some of the silly touristy stuff. My oldest DS is going to take his car too, and the 4 boys are going to caravan with DH and DD and I. That way, while we are there, when they are board with the beach, they can go do some of that stuff like the go-carts etc..., plus they thought the 10 or 11 hour drive will be more fun for them LOL. That resturant sounds fun, I wrote it down :) Thanks again :)

I don't know if it's do-able for you, being in Texas, but our best vacation (staying in North America) was to Nova Scotia. We did alot of driving, but were able to blend a small city (Halifax) with camping, beaching, and amazing beauty. Maybe not the most exciting place - not high entertainment, except in Halifax- but Cape Breton Island is the most beautiful place on earth! (at least of the places we've been LOL). I did hear on the news that they're delaying the rule on passports for Canada, Bahamas, etc.

Last summer's trip to Paris was amazing - but definitely one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

This winter we went to the Florida Keys - actually *not* a ton of beach-y stuff there, surprisingly - but a ton of boating - snorkeling, fishing. Key West is a hopping town, and there are some beautiful spots all along the Keys.

With the varied ages, a lake might be a nice choice. At most lakes there are sunfish rentals and/or buggy boats and tubing rides, etc., for the older kids. But it's relaxing enough that your youngest can be content playing in the shallow water and sand. Not sure where you are, but Lake George in NY is a hot family summer vaca spot, as well as some lakes up in Maine.
