I have twin DDs who will be entering their Junior year in High School and am interested in connection with other parents of college bound Juniors re. college choice, SATs etc. I have really had some aniety over the whole year but the parents of College Students board has helped me relax. Anyway, I was looking for you and if you are out there it'd be fun to share. Thanks!

Relax. It sounds like your kids are on a good track and im sure they will get into a respected college. My son, Kelan, will be a junior at UCLA and like you I have twin daughters, Marissa and Jade, who will be juniors next year. We saw the local colleges way before his junior year, just so he had a few local ones in mind. The rest we saw during his junior year and the summer before his senior year. It is not completely necessary, but it wasn't that hard because all of them where in California. He graduated with a 4.3 gpa, after 3 tries and a prep class scored a 2150 on the SAT, and a 32 on the ACT. Kelan applied to UCSD, UCSB, Cal Poly SLO, SDSU, Harvey Mudd, San Marcos, Standford, UC Berkeley, and UCLA (where he chose to go). He did not get into Stanford or Berkeley, but absolutely loves UCLA.

We are going to do the same thing for the girls, actually they have seen all of the same ones as their brother. They will take the SAT this September and their score will judge if they need to take a prep class. They already study every day for the September SAT. They both have taken some SAT IIs and have done well on them and at this moment have enough to be eligible for UC's. They are both presidents and captains of things, in ASB, and honor societies.

Question since you have twins, are they planning on going to the same college? Mine are applying to some of the same schools, but I think it will ultimately come down to where they get in.

My daughter will be a junior this year. She has pretty well rounded her college choices down to two local technical colleges (she wants to be an x-ray technician). I'm not too concerned about the situation (yet). Her guidance counselor told me not to worry about anything until next year since she's planning to go to a technical college rather than a private university. So far, she's on track. She's taking a prep medical class which will give her anatomy and medical terminology, and she's taken the other classes she needs specifically for x-ray technician ... biology, algebra, and this year she's taking chemistry.

My son is a junior and depending on his school attitude and study habits he may....or may not be going to college.

Prep classes really helped Madison. The first time she took the SAT she only got an 1800, which is not nearly good enough for the schools that she is looking to apply to. She prepared on her own for the second time, but much to her disappointment recieved a 1950. We hired her a private tutor and she finally broke 2000 with a 2090.

I have a in going senior - I learned greatly from my friend whose son is off to Syracuse - I will pass along the wisdom as well as depend on the group for occassional freak out moments. Definately be searching internet for possible schools right now - winter and spring breaks should be looking at schools - if possible and next summer is looking at more and next fall and winter is looking at final 4 or 5 when students are in with and without formal tours.

My aunt has senior twins looking at very different schools - I will take notes of their experience for you:)

new to ivillage, have a jr student also, and am scared to death. He is a very good student but everything has come easy to him up to this point, in his jr year, he has decided to take 3 ap courses ( english, biology and history) on top of swimming for his private club team 27 hours a week. needless to say I am a little concerned. I would love to swap info. as the year goes on. We are on the east coast, I see you are on the west. My son thinks he is interested in the west coast, I think mostly because of the swimming.
