Former teadrinker, now fully engulfed in a coffee addiction so thinking of changing my "nom de plume" to "Black Coffee". Mom to two and married for 20 years. DD is 19 and is attending university. DS is 17 and in last year of high school. Dog is 5 and is annoying the.... out of me. He wants me to play with him! Location is Ontario.

No real plans for X-Mass; never do much. Just a quiet time with kids.

My sister, Janet, lives in Lake Zurich,IL--that's where the janetlz came from. I don't get to see her often so I think of her every time I come to ivillage.

I'm Jean, in N. VA, and have two sons, one is 24 in Annapolis, and the other is 18, a freshman at MSU. Janet was going to bring my 90 yo mom out here for Xmas, but her company was bought out about the time she could've gotten reasonably priced tickets, and she got preoccupied with other stuff, so instead DH, DS18 and I will drive to WI after Xmas. We forgot to tell DS24 about our change in plans, and now he can't get a decent-priced ticket, so just the four of us will have Xmas here before leaving for the long drive to WI. (DS24 gets only 2 weeks vacation and always uses one for a ski trip and one to visit a friend in LA.) We'll be stopping in MI on the way there and back so that DS18 can spend a bit of time with his old HS friends.

Our move from MI to VA created more holiday complications than we anticipated, but next year should be better.

Hi Sue,

I love Christmas, however I have to agree with you! The stores cram it in you face before Halloween is even over and with the sales starting early this year it is a bit much, too much! I get so overwhelmed because I have 6 kids to buy for and stuff that the shopping part and trying to make sure everyone is happy is exhausting for me and I hate doing it, don't get me wrong I love to give- it just seems to be a lot of pressure sometimes!!
