((Actually, what I really need is the 'yawn' icon!lol))
Last night was DD's HS Winter Concert - orchestra , choir, and then.....our favorite...Jazz Band. DD has been playing bass guitar in Jazz Band since 8th grade and she loves it. It has been a way for this previously stage-shy kid to get out there and perform.
Good news - DD's group played really well - they sounded 'tight' and coordinated. DD's solo was very good - she's improved alot this year!
Bad news - They always schedule Jazz Band last, and it didn't end until after 10 and it takes us 40 min or so to get home, so we're all going to be dragging today (including my 8yo, who wouldn't think of missing the concert). Not that we're biased, but my son says "they put Jazz Band last because that's what people REALLY want to listen to, and that way they won't leave early" LOL I think the orchestra parents want to listen to their kids, but I love how DS was sticking up for his big sis.

I really need that yawn icon too!
My DS had his middle school concert last night too. For some reason, the jazz ensemble didn't play. He isn't in it this year because of his marching band commitments during the fall. But his 8th grade band always goes on last and it irritates the heck out of me that most of the audience has left by that point. (It is a 7th & 8th grade band and orchestra concert.) All of the orchestra families leave as soon as their kids are done. It doesn't make me happy that I sit through their kids' performances but they don't give the 8th grade band the benefit of having a nice big audience. And the 8th grade band is the best part of the whole program (Really! I'd say that even if my kid weren't in it. LOL.) They did great--and they played Sleigh Ride, which is one of my favorites!
Ramona Mom to 2 great kids and wife to one wonderful hubby since 1990!
