yeah ekmama you're right, they would beg to differ. Maybe its a personal taste issue for me? I liked the style of the other two groups better. They all are pretty impressive tho.

I think the Scouts would beg to differ with you on that!:smileywink: They definitely see them selves on the same plane!

I used to know a number of guys who traveled with the Madison Scouts back in the 80s.... I LOVED drum corps. The Scouts weren't on the same plane as the Phantom Regiment or the Cavaliers, but exciting to watch none the less.

Has your dd heard of Winter Guard International, or Drum Corps International?
If your kids are interested, there may be some events in your area

also, there is 1 independent Winter Guard in Illinois

And 2 independent Drum & Bugle Corps with color guards. The Phantom Regiment is FAMOUS

Good luck with the fundraising. :) I remember those days fondly... mulch, anyone? (why did we have to pick fundraisers that required lifting enormous bags of mulch?!?!). It's neat that she's become so invested in it. It sounds like a great extracurricular.

It's funny, I never heard much about color guard prior to this school year. I knew it existed but suddenly, it seems all the rage. It certainly is fun to watch and I'm all for any sort of art being included in school programs. Do they do this in the Spring too?

As you said, most Winter Guards begin because Color Guard caught the bug, and doesn't want the season to end!
