Wondering what I was thinking??

My primary computer is my laptop, which has had a chronically floating cursor almost since I got it. T, my DD's 16 y/o b/f has been after me for a week to let him fix it - he found a fix online and wanted to try it. Finally, after many reassurances that he knew what he was doing, I let him have at it, on my dining room table. In the first 10 minutes it was pretty apparent that yes, he did know something about what he was doing, and even though it took him 2 hours to take the laptop apart, do the fix, and put it back together, it IS fixed.

And the best part of the deal?? The look of pride on his face when I thanked him for saving me a small fortune in computer repair. T has some real issues with self-esteem, and this success was really good for him. You should have seen the way he puffed up!!! He's lived in several abusive situations (mom's b/fs) and they really did a number on his self confidence and sense of self worth. Hubby told him that if computer repair is something he enjoys and is good at, he should pursue it, a guy can make a good living doing that. Praise from DH puffed him up even more!

Life is good!

Rose,

You are a braver woman than I - no way would I let anyone touch my laptop. I'm comfortable with them tinkering with my desktop but the laptop.

Good for him for sticking with it and getting it fixed.

LOL... I was thinknig the exact thing.
Kodos to Rose for that giant leap of faith that worked out all around!
I wouldn't let a kid touch my laptop! I wouldn't even let the little beaners at Best Buy touch the thing!
