WELLL, my 15yo (16 on Thanksgiving this year) has been on birth control for about a year now and we've discussed "possibilities" MANY times. She's about due for her 1 year girly checkup to go another year- however yesterday we had a conversation about how her period is 3 days late and she's on the non-hormone week. I asked if she thought she could possibly be pregnant and she says she dosen't know how with the pill and condoms. She had missed one pill on the pack BEFORE the one she just finished (she told me that at the time), and assures me that even though they've only been with each other they absolutely use condoms EVERY time. I know I've hounded BOTH of them about the necessity of TWO methods because stuff happens and only the condom can reduce the threat of STD'd -make them a habit even if you're only with each other until after you're married and want kids. IF she's being totally truthful, I don't think she's pregnant but boy is she getting herself worked up over it! GOOD!! I know I'm hoping the worry isn't worth the sex and they'll decide maybe it's time to stop for awhile...yeah, right.

BUT, I also asked her if she would consider abortion as an option for herself- she said no way, she'd give it to her oldest sister, and I honestly believe she would. I told her if that's the case there's no need to waste money on a test because our Doc will be able to tell by her cervix when she goes for her checkup and by that time we'd know anyway.

This is her first "scare" and HOOBOY! I sure hope thats all it is!

Oh my goodness! I hope it is just a scare.

It's so good that she talks to you. Count your blessings on that one as well. If I had known that my DD was wanting to start having sex, we would have put her on the pill as well. But, what a good head she has to know that she isn't old enough, and a such a self-less act to give it to her sister.

You have a great kid! Keep us posted on what the doctor says. I'll keep her in my prayers that it is only a scare.

I hope and pray that it's just a scare! WOW To the best of my knowledge, my DD has never had a scare; she usually tells me whatever is going on in her life, the good, the bad, and the ugly, so I think I'd know if she had. Thankfully, now at 19 and engaged, she and her fiance view an accidental pregnancy as "really, really bad timing, but not the worst thing that could happen to us" rather than something that would knock the bottom out of their boat... but she says they're still really careful. Gotta tell ya though, while she was still in high school, I prayed a LOT! (FWIW, she's been sexually active since she was 15 too.)

Thanks for asking...she really isn't sure if stress and the pills are giving her a super light period this time or if it's, ya know, a baby. She had said that as time is going on, the longer she's been taking it that her periods seem to be changing.

FYI, hopefully she's just like me, when on any BC (pill or ring), I get no period.

That happened to my DD a couple month ago. Usually her period will start the first or second day after she's on the inert pills. Once it took 4 days and she had a bit of a scare. Her periods have gotten very light from the pills.

I hope all is well. With 2 bc methods I'm voting for stress. Stress will really mess up periods.
