Dd learned something yesterday that reinforced all my fears about her ever drinking. Her best friend (who's as much of a "prude" as dd) from last year confessed to her that over the summer, she got drunk and had sex with some random guy - she doesn't even know his name. The same scenario I have been trying to beat into dd's head for forever!! Apparently, this must have triggered something in her since she started saying she didn't want to go to the homecoming dance. I pried further to find out it's not really the dance she doesn't want to go to, but the parties afterwards. Instead of jumping up and down and doing back flips, I remained calm! I said, you can go to parties and not drink and she was like "I just don't want to be around a bunch of drunken fools" And furthermore, parties always get busted by the cops and I don't want to get in trouble which she would whether or not she was drinking. Woohoo... I asked her if she had talked to boyfriend about this and she said not yet, she was going to that night. They did end up talking about it and he totally agreed with her - they decided to make an appearance at one of the parties and then they will leave. He said he didn't want to drink either but would feel he had to and wouldn't be able to look after her and keep her safe. He made a promise to her dad when he left for overseas to look after her and he's taking it very seriously.

I'm really starting to like this guy, despite all my earlier fears. Dd got her progress reports yesterday all a's and b's - um yeah THAT'S never happenend. He's been really babying her with her ankle - he came over Monday and waited on her hand and foot all day and watched all the "Bring it On" movies with her (poor guy). They went to the haunted hayrides and he carried her through the fields to keep her off the ankle. He called her later to remind her to ice the ankle - lol it's cute. She says he's been a complete angel since she told him things were going too fast, and as happy as she is I believe it. He had given her his championship football ring and she gave it back to him because she was terrified she was going to lose it (I guess she did lose it a few times, despite my nagging about it) and he keeps trying to give it back LOL They were "arguing" in my car about it on the way to the haunted hayrides. I guess he got a lot of slack from the guys about giving her his ring - but he didn't care a bit, he really wants her to have it. LOL but she ain't havin' it.

I've enjoyed getting to know the kid and his family seems to be really into getting to know my dd. So all in all, it's looking like my wb isn't as much as a wb as I thought he was!! Atleast this week!!

Good grief, he sounds like a "dream" boyfriend alright. I can see where your dd might be swept off her feet (in her case, quite literally - lol). Hope things continue to go well.
It sounds like you've got a "keeper".

I'm glad things are looking good for you and your DD.

You can see my post about alcohol. ONe thing I told my DD was about how when people drink to excess, that's when they leave themselves vulnerable to doing things they will regret later, not to mention being raped or whatever. I hope it will sink in.
