These two phrases are my DD15's latest verbal habits. It bugs me but I don't know why. I don't even know exactly what they mean LOLOL. This weekend, my SIL (40+) said "yeah, no", so I guess it's not just a teen thing.

Anyone else doing this, or insight into what it means? Payas? Wolverine?

Like, why does that bug you? Like, I think you just have to, like, accept that these kids are going to like, develop their own, like, language! LOL - guess which one is really bugging ME right now? I've started to answer sarcastically...along the lines of "Oh, so they are just LIKE your favourite band, and not ACTUALLLY your favourite band??" I think with the "yeah, no" thing you can assume that it means "no". I've heard it used to sort of emphasize the no - make it a little sarcastic, similar to "let me think about that...uh, NO!" So I'm going to guess that "no, yeah" works the same way, although I haven't personally heard that variation!
