You All Were Right!!

I may be wrong, but I believe my very first post here (2004) was about my son telling me he'd never, ever attend a homecoming dance or prom, or anything at all!

He told me, head hanging down, that he'd invited a girl to prom!! Now he's excited and so am I. He plans on wearing his pants with chains hanging all over, shirt and tie, and military boots! So it ought to be an interesting picture!!

I was a social butterfly in high school, and I just wanted him to experience some of the good stuff that is, and I'm really happy about this. It's just a small thing, I know, but I'm very happy anyway.

My grandmother (who just past away a year ago) was known for her unending optimism about people, and her belief that things would work out eventually. Her constant statement was "Never say Never....anything could happen if you just live long enough!"

Glad your son decided to go to prom - and I had to smile at how he's doing it in his own way! Definitely an individualist!!

zz - I am ROFLMAO! My little punky 16dd announced to me just last month, after YEARS of sneering at her older sister, that SHE would NEVER go to prom....it's not worth the trouble....who wants to get all dressed up....why would I waste all my money on the tickets, etc., that she IS going to her school's prom. There will only be about 30 couples, if that, and they are all slightly left of center, meaning that I'm fairly certain that all the boys there will look like a combination of your ds!!

My dd and I went shopping and she had in her head a dress she wanted, it had a laced up front bodice, very rennaissance-y. She wound up choosing a dress that looks like the one Sleeping Beauty wore! It's a sleeveless pale blue dress with sparklies throughout & a huge bell skirt! I almost fell down when she came out and said "This is the one!" all girly like and giddy - so unlike my black wearing, pink dyed haired, belly button pierced dd. Still, ROFLMAO.

Thanks everybody!!

And Hearts, that is hilarious!! Her dress sounds like the one I wore to prom a few years ago.. hehe. I bet you had fun shopping with her. We're doing our thing this weekend, hopefully. I broke my toe yesterday and it's getting bigger by the hour almost. His prom isn't until the 29th so we've got time.

Our kids seem to have alot in common!! I'm almost giddy today! And I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but it's nice to see DS doing something "normal" at school, instead of hiding in the shadows so to speak.

I'm sure I'll have more to say on this the closer it gets!!

Thanks again,
zz

P.S.: Did you get my e-mail on Tuesday or Wednesday?

Did you mean me re: an email? I don't think my email address linked in my profile is my current email address. If you want to email me you can at cntn4_2@peoplepc.com.

We had to have everything changed after the predator incident last May.

Wow. Has it been since last May that happened with your DD? Time with our kids just seems to fly, huh? Even when they're being themselves!

My e-mail was a thank you for making me feel so much better the other day. Some days I just get really down, and getting understanding and explanatory feedback really helps.

I appreciated everyone's replies, but more often than not lately folks haven't gotten the 2 or 3 e-mails I've sent. And I've almost myself, marked one as spam that I've gotten through my ivillage profile, since the subject line no longer says it comes from an ivillage member. Has anyone else noticed that?

Thanks for giving me your e-mail address. Never can tell when I might need it!

Can you believe after all this time I still don't know what "n/t" mean? I used to think it meant "no thanks", but apparently that's not it!

Care to share?

Thanks,
zz
