You never know!

I thought I knew my 17 year-old son. I guess I was wrong. I raised our son to always respect the law, and NEVER, EVER drink and drive.

Yea, kids can do stupid things.
My DS17 does not have his license. He can only drive with a responsible adult sitting beside him. He might get it this summer but even at that, he will not be driving at night without either DH or myself. Plus, none of his friends have their licenses either.
DD19 is as straight of an arrow as they come. Even though she is of drinking age here, she hates the smell and taste of the stuff. Plus, she only has access to a car (mine) when she is home. And when she is home, she prefers to veg out at home.
To add..
By delaying DS getting his license, hopefully, he will be abit more mature to handle it.
Time will deal.
I think MADD and SADD deserve a lot of credit for getting drunk drivers off our roads. I was never actively involved, but do appreciate their efforts.
It's good you mentioned that pot can affect one's driving, too...I'm not sure our kids are educated about that the way they are about drinking and driving. I know DS has driven at least once while under the influence of pot.

Several years ago, there was a very tragic accident here caused by the drivers of two cars being under the influence of pot. 5 teen boys were killed and another's life was forever changed; they had be out celebrating the end of the year and graduating from high school.
Such a waste, too high price for stupid act.
