Teen sex and parent ground rules

I am looking for some thoughts on the subject of setting ground rules, and opinions on how others would have handled my situation.

Shortly after my DD turned 13, she attended a family gathering, bringing her "partner", a 14-year old boy she introduced as her "boyfriend".

Same here - I felt so bad for my grandpa in that he died just short of 97 with no great grandkids!

LOL sounds like you have longevity in those genes! My great grandparents were long gone before I was born. One grandpa died before I was born, two other grandparents before I turned 16. One grandma lived until I was an adult but I wasn't close to her. Sometimes I'm afraid dh and I are screwed - 3 out of our 4 parents died before they were 63; my dad lived the longest until he was 74...

I had one great grandparent living when I was born, he died when I was 3 or 4 - I kind of vaguely remember him.

There is nothing wrong having kids in your 30s.

Well I don't know, I had my youngest when I was 38--now I'm 54 and I go to the gym w/ him, do ballroom dancing, work full time and do a lot of other activities.

If we had waited until we were 38 and the girls were still born in the first quarter, the girls would still be 5 and 4.

Not really - he was my only grandparent (my dad's parents died when he was 14 and 16; my mom's mom died when I was 4 months old)
