The only way you have "failed as a mother" is by allowing their sense of entitlement and complaining to shake your confidence in your abilities as a mom.
No, you haven't failed as a mother. You're doing fine. Your kids are learning the value of working for what they want. I like Stacy's idea of having them volunteer in a soup kitchen or somewhere. Perhaps that would open their eyes a little. But perhaps not. Teens can be incredibly self-centered. Hang in there - it does get better!
This reminds me of the old Rose Ann Barr sitcom when she said, "This is the reason that some animals eat their young." The only thing you have to feel guilty over is that you didn't eat them. LOL
Seriously, the guys should be grateful for what they have. Only about 95% of the world would kill to have what they have.

I see a big difference between kids from rich families who have to work and those who don't & get everything handed to him.
We live in an area where a great many of the kids have everything handed to them, and we COULD have given our kids a lot more.
