I am wondering what tv shows everyone lets their 7yos watch. My 7yo likes shoes that I think may be to young for him, like Backyardigans and Franklin. I am trying to make sure what he does is age appropriate, and

As much as they complain, my twins will still watch some of the preschool shows with their younger brother if he has control of the tv.

Ian just turned 7 and he just loves Diego and the Backyardigans. But, he tends to enjoy Spongebob and the likes too. I steer him towards Loony Toons (because I can actually watch it w.o being violently ill!)

Honestly, we allow Ian to watch what we watch. We talk about what goes on and allow him to ask questions. Like tonight we watched Animal Precinct on Animal Planet (I love that show) and it can be pretty intense. he askes a lot of Q's but he learns a lot! He loves Star trek with my DH and some other similar shows like Torchwood on BBC America.

I have been trying to steer Ethan away from Spnge Bob too. I just hate that show! I put the kibosh on Power Rangers as soon as he came to live with us, and he doesn't ask about it anymore.

We got new cable the other day, and that introduced him to different shows like Danny Phantom...and we got the Boomerang network! Woohoo! Now I show him Smurfs! *G*

I think your son is one of the few that IS watching age appropriate TV. Frankly, I don't at all believe watching older TV makes you mature! I think it makes kids "play" mature... you know, start talking about boyfriends and girlfriends at ages when they have no real comprehension. My DD (11) doesn't watch ANYTHING her friends are watching. She's not interested in the Disney shows and bands. We don't let her watch prime time TV
