Exposing "Santa"? When?

My son is 7 years old and still believes in Santa. He's a smart one, and last year he started asking questions about how he gets around to everyone's house all in one night, etc, and I'm wondering now when we should have "the talk". My concern is that other kids at school that "know" may say something, and I don't want him getting into a discussion about it if he still believes. I don't want him to be the only one that does believe, you know what I mean?

Any suggestions?

I don't know... I am considering just never admitting to ANYTHING! :D I am trying to remember if my own mother ever admitted to being Santa... I don't think she ever did - it was just something I figured out and felt very clever for having done so.

I bet if I asked her today, she would tell me that Santa was responsible for all those Christmas mornings.

Last year my son's friend, who is from India, told my son that there was no such thing as Santa and that the parents were the ones who put the gifts under the tree. I was highly irritated by this, but I just said, "Well, how would he know? He doesn't even celebrate Christmas!" And my son said, "THAT'S WHAT I TOLD HIM!!"

Then I changed the subject. :)

I've been thinking about this too since I know it's coming even if it's not this year I want to be prepared.

I decided to be upfront and honest. But I want to be careful how I word it caue we teach our kids not

Susan, I am totally LOL at your story. Our neighbors are from India abd we had the *exact* same thing happen last year.. response and everything.

I've been trying to decide when to tell Aubrey. She totally believes and I don't want her to stand up for it and be the last one.. hopefully we'll wait for next year and she can ask questions. She has this year but sees movies that show some people believe/don't believe, etc.

Dh and I have decided when we do tell her, we'll say it a game that grown ups play and ask if she's like to continue playing.. and explain not to ruin the game for others..
