game boy advance.

My dd is 6 1/2. For hanukkah this year (last night) her great grandfather, yes I said great he is 95! Anyway...he got her a game boy advance and 1 game. He inquired about the game at the store to make sure it is her age level. So he got The Cheetah Girls. It says 6 and up. Well, it is too hard for her let alone my dh, who is an xbox junkie. He can play it, but he says it is way too hard for her. So for now they play it togehter, which is nice too. But I want something she can do on her own.

So my question is ...what girl games are right for her age? What games do others with girls have. BTW She is not into princesses anymore.

On another note, is she just too young for gameboy? A few of her friends from school have it, they are boys. 1 girlfriend has it and she is 8. She begged for it, that is why he got it for her. Did we make a mistake?

Thanks,
Alisa

My dd was 6 when we got her DS, she is 7 now. She loves tetris and we also have the Dogz game where you pick your puppy and train it, for Christmas we got her a horse game that you adopt a pony. If your not sure what to get for her, you can usually rent games at the video store or maybe find a used game store to keep the cost down as it can get a little pricy. Good luck!

Thanks all.

I used to LOVE tetris on my game boy. meanwhile it looked NOTHING like my dd's game boy. It was vertical and grey. ha ha. I didn't really think of that game. I saw Dogz online and catz, I assume that is the same. It looks like she would like that.

My parents got her for last nights gift pixel chicks. She loves it and could play it right away.

We do gifts every other night. My family gives such expensive gifts that my dh and I feel it's not necessary for the girls to be overloaded with presents. Plus my younger dd's b-day is so soon after chanukkah each year. She'll be 5 on Jan 7th So my girls get gifts from my grandfather, my parents, my brother and my dh and I. When my grangfather passes and the girls are old enough I think I will have them buy for each other.

Any other game boy favoirtes? Let me know!
Thanks again.

I have a 6 yr old dd and an almost 8 yr old ds, and last year for christmas we got them each a GBA. The only reason they each got one was b/c they were on sale and came with 2 games each. They came with Harry Potter and Chicken Little. HP is too hard for Emily, but chicken little is easy enough for her, and she bought a strawberry shortcake game with her birthday money in august and loves it. It's not hard at all and very cute. I would say maybe a Finding Nemo game? We have that for the PS2 and it's pretty easy.

She likes chicken little. great idea.

She wont go for strawberry shortcake or nemo. My 4 year old would, she like age appropriate toys/games. My 6 year old dd is 6 going on 14. I have to curb a lot with her. She wants games like the suite life of zach and cody, phil of the future, and lizzy mcguire. I KNOW they will be too hard for her.

Thanks for the chicken little idea.

HI my daughter just had her 7th bday this month and her dad got her a gameboy, i thought she was too young but she loves it!! i dont think you made a mistake. She has the Barbie and the Magic Pegasis game, its also helping with her reading because there is a story in the game and she has to read the sentences before advancing, i help her with it but shes getting better at it. I think i'm gonna get her Strawberry Shortcake next. I havent looked too much at what other games are out there for her age yet. They do have a Happy Feet game out now.

my 6 year old dd just got a nintendo ds lite for Hanukkah with the little mermaid game. She loves it and doesn't find it hard but she still loves princesses. I also got her brain games and that is the one she loves to look at at stores. She loves doing sudoku and it includes that. She will get that Friday night. I think my mom is giving her Strawberry Shortcake. My sil who has an 11 year old boy recommended harvest moon (it was sold out at the time). Of course dd would love to get games like cheetah girl, Raven etc but doesn't have them now. I usually don't do expensive gifts but I thought and thought about it and decided it was something she would use for a long time and will be useful for our trips to visit grandpa.

Which one is the ds lite, is it the one with 2 screens? How do you know which screen to look at?

Gabriella says she will "try" little mermaid. But not strawberry shortcake. (eye roll). She is impossible!

I'll get her 1 or 2 games from the wonderful sugestions on this board, since her cheeta girls one is too hard. Then I will wait for her b-day for any more. I see Alyssa is 5/00, so is Gabriella. She is 5/5/00, when is your dd b-day?
