Introduction -- new here :o)

Hi. I am Kathy. I have been lurking here and reading for a couple of months now. I am married to DH John and we have two children, a son who is a freshman in college and a 6 1/2 year old daughter. DD is adopted and I am old enough to be her grandmother. We brought her home from the hospital when she was just over 24 hours old and she has brought us pure joy since we first laid eyes on her. :o) She is in first grade this year at a private Christian school in our town.

I taught school for 12 years before our son was born, but have been a SAHM since then. My background is in gifted education and child development. I enjoy heirloom sewing, smocking, embroidery, reading, gardening, and music in my spare time.

Hi Kathy and welcome to the gang!

After reading about you I was going to say that you 'sound like a special lady,' but then decided that sounded like I was answering a personal ad! :) So I will just say that you sound GREAT!

The heirloom sewing sounds fascinating. Is there a certain period you are interested in?

Thanks, Susan. We have just in the past couple of hours regained power and internet after a monster ice storm that hit here Wednesday night/Thursday morning. We spent four days/nights in a hotel. The laundry looks like a mountain and we have to be packed for Christmas travel on Thursday of this week. YIKES!!!
I will take more time later to respond and fill you in with some details about my heirloom sewing.

Welcome, fluffy! I'm always glad to see an educator join in to get more perspectives on things. HOw did you lik the gifted programs? Do you find them effective?

WELCOME, again! AND bless your hearts for taking that baby so young! =)
