Do you ever feel like you get the shaft (for lack of a better word :)) on Mother's Day?

My husband tries... but... I often feel like it is just another day. Nothing really special happens and I usually end up doing laundry/dishes/cleaning like normal. I've done the day away before and it really is lovely. I think that's what you should ask for this year- you deserve some "me" time. What would you do with your day if you were to have it to yourself?

Here, here! A day off from all "mother-related" duties sounds perfect and on top of that - dishes and laundry should NOT be put off until the day after. I think dad and the kids should do those dishes and laundry on Mother's Day ... lol.

My SO is usually pretty good at gift giving - actually VERY good at gift giving, but I am still doing all the regular chores that I'd do on any other day. Two years ago, SO ended up going to the walk-in clinic and he was diagnosed with shingles, so the day wasn't even acknowledged! Not like him, but I have been known to remind him about that Mother's Day ... LOL.
I say "yay" to Mother's Day, but that is that we should just enjoy the day regardless of what it brings. If my son picks a dandelion and gives it to me - that's all that mattes. It's the thought that counts :)

It's a lovely idea, just won't be happening this year. I know I'm going to spend the whole day cleaning and preparing for my FIL and his wife's visit in a couple of weeks. Baseball is taking up so much of my time, that I don't have much free time lately :(

Totally agree that laundry and dishes should be done by the dad and kids :) I do like that the little things the boys do, just don't enjoy having to cook myself dinner!

The weather is looking fairly nice for Mother's Day and SO has expressed an interest in wanting to work out in the yard, so out in the yard we will be. I can't complain. I'm elated that he's beginning to feel more and more like himself ;)
