So much STUFF!

My kids are like hoarders or something, I swear. Their rooms are just so full of...clutter for lack of a better word. Both my husband and I tend to be pretty neat people so this is driving us batty. It's not even like all toys or anything. Candy wrappers, rocks from the backyard, part of a shoelace (?!?). Whenever I try to talk them into getting rid of some it, they claim some sort of sentimental attachment to it. Help!

I feel your pain....my son is a little hoarder too. Just sneak into their room at night when they're asleep or at school and clean up! Enough is enough, I mean who's house is it anyway? Tell them when they have their own place they can keep whatever they want. You can also put them away in a box and after a while they'll forget about it (outta sight, outta mind) and you can trash it. That's what I do with the cheap little Chuck E Cheese toys he brings home..he doesn't even play with them for that long!

My middle one is 6 next month, so I am just going to make myself at home on this board now. ;0)

DH and I have been discussing this a lot lately also.  Mine get their clutter abilities from me, I know i am terrible about it, plus I never seem to find time to declutter and really clean and organize.  DH on the other hand is very minimalistic.  I tend to clean out stuff when the kids are gone, a lot less for them to argue about, I'll put it into a box for a few weeks and if they haven't asked for anything in the box I will then donate it all.  I was just reading a blog about decluttering kids toys that was an interesting idea:
