Hi ladies, My daughter turned 7 on 8/25 she met her teacher yesterday and she seemed really nice. She also knows a lot of the kids from her class because they were in her class last year. This morning before school she complained her stomach was hurting and started crying saying she was scared and didn't want to go to school. This caught me off guard because last year she was brand new at the school and didn't cry even one day. Any words of advicevplease? Thanks :smileyhappy: Monica

Hi!

I'm sorry to hear your DD is having a rough start to the school year! I was going to suggest maybe it was just the transition of starting a new school year but since you said she didn't do this last year, even with a new school, I'm not sure. My son goes through a rough transition period at the beginning of each school year.

One thing I often do is email the teacher just to let him/her know what is going on. I always try to make sure I don't sound like I'm accusing them of being the problem which is a challenge with wording sometimes. :smileyhappy: I also ask them how my son is during the day at school b/c many times the kids are totally happy once they are there and into the "groove" of the school day.

Keep us updated - I hope this morning went better!

Hi Lisa!

Thanks so much for your advice. My daughter did great today, no tears. She cried yesterday and again am not sure why. I told her teacher that she was excited and nervous about starting second grade. It's just hard when your child won't communicate with you about how they are feeling especially when your child s seven. I'm so glad today went well and I hope the rest of the school year goes well. Thanks again!
