My Husband loves video games and my Daughter who is 7 has been playing them since she was about 4. It has helped her in so many ways. Now we don't do violent ones. He has to do his "Daddy" games at night when she is in bed, but we love doing the Wii and the Xbox. She is into the Lego games and word soup where you have to make words out of the scrambled up letters.
Trish PS- My Husband grew up on video games and violent ones to boot and he is the most quiet, gentle, relaxed person I know.
I swore my children would never play those mindless video games.
But then I was at a friends house and he daughter had a playstation and a Mickey Mouse game were you cooked food and made meals for Mickey and Minnie. The game was setup not only did she get to cook; without burning herself, the food was matched up by colors and shapes. I was amazed at how he 4 yrs old was connecting the color etc..
So I bought the game for my 4 yr old and a winnie the pooh game were you had to match letters, numbers, colors, and shapes to win prizes to take to Tiger's birthday party. My son Loved that Pooh game, and when he started kindergarten the teacher said he was well above the other kids because he knew all his shape, size, color etc....
