Welcome to the board!

Hopefully your post will bring the gym moms out of lurkedom to give some advice. We use to have quite a few, but it's been pretty quiet lately.

It is tough spot your in. I think the decision to make a serious commitment to one sport is the toughest one when it comes to sports.

I completely understand your dilemma! For me so much of it depends on the child and how she responds to each new level of practice. I would want to be sure she was being challenged and pay attention to how she responds to the challenge, ie; Does she love new challenges? Is she content to practice skills she has mastered without learning many new ones? I also like the suggestion of investigating where the path will take you and your dd financially, time wise, etc. It is important to know what you are getting into. You may have a child who thrives on new challenges and will become bored easily if she isn't being challenged(I have two gymnasts like this), if this is the case you might want to be prepared to let her continue at the excellerated rate. perhaps you should discuss your concerns with the coaches. maybe they will give her a trial period at the excellerated rate to see how she responds. if it proves to be too much too soon you can take a step back. It is also important to know the coaching philosophies of the gym. Do the coaches like to push the girls hard and fast without mastering foundational skills? We have had girls come from other gyms that had this philosophy and the girls were ill equipped to compete at the levels they were placed. Some gyms push girls through levels to get more money.
