What brands of backpacks do you recommend for good hardy backpacks?

For the past 2 years, Aly's only been allowed binders, and before that, she never had more than a couple folders & papers to carry.

She won't have to carry books, and IDEALLY, she should only carry 7 folders with paper, a workbook, calculator, and supplies like pencils, markers. I say IDEALLY because I've picked up these kids' backpacks before...ugh! So it has to be durable.

I've seen Jansport at Office Depot & Academy in the $30-40 price range. I've had wonderful luck with Eastpak in the past, but have not a clue where to find them now.

LL Bean. Its the best purchase we made. if something does go wrong w/it like a zipper they guarantee it & fix it or replace it for nothing. My ds bought one in his junior yr. of highschool & many yrs. past highschool he still uses it & stuffs it to the limit. Nik loves hers she's had it for 3 yrs. now & I just bought her a rolling one for middle school at the outlet store here in town. Love my LL bean.

Do you guys have REI (the camping store)? They have great backpacks. Evan wants a Northface for next year. He was using a sling style pack last year and it just didn't work very well. Go in to REI, tell them what you're looking for, have them fit her, and then go home to their web site and check out the outlet tab or keep an eye out for their sales.

like everyone else I agree that the LL bean bag is great.About the rollong back pack though a lot of schools do not allow them.Plus it would never ever fit in Gabby's locker. She hates wearing a heavy winter coat because of the size of her locker. The ll bean backpack holds a leat 3 1 1/2 inch binders.I hate all the binders, which also barly fit in her locker. It would be easier to have folders for each class, but hey need a binder for everything and a big binder at that.Gabby's back pack was close to 21lbs at times last year.Rolling would be nice, but they are kind of dangerous in a crowded hallway. Some kids have them, but they need a drs note.

Thanks.

Along with the overwhelming vote for LLBean, I'm sold on your multiple runs in the washing machine alone!

I had an LSU backpack (but I don't remember the brand...not Eastpak, but something high-quality) that I had for several years, but once I put it in the wash, it fell apart.

Something similar, but not as drastic, happened with the Eastpak I had, too (when I washed it, the inside hem fringed and those fringes got caught in the zipper).

But, if I can throw the LLBean in the wash, I'm definitely sold.

Our district does not allow rolling backpacks (safety reasons), even through high school, so I looked up LLBean and found the Deluxe Book Pack (under the teens). It holds a bit more than the Original Plus (under kids). It's $39, with monogram & tax, it's $51. I was going to do the monogramming locally, but it's $6 on here and $7 locally, plus I'd have to make 2 trips to the monogram shop. And the shipping is only $6...I would pay at least that to go to Academy!..lol.

Thanks!

Thanks Dee. The guarantee is another reason I'm sold. Aly already picked out the bag color (the fuschia wave...tropical look) and the font for her initials.
