Becoming a Big Brother...Need Some Help, Please

Hi,

I'm becoming a 'big brother' to a 10 year-old kid and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice, for instance, what should I expect from a 10 year-old boy, what do they like to do, what are their interests, how do you connect with them, etc. I posted this three days ago to the parenting group board in this age range and received no replies. Is this the right place to ask this question? If not, I'd appreciate if someone could direct me.

Thanks!

That's very nice of you to take your time out to be a big brother! I have 11 year old twins, who while very different, have some of the same interests. They like video games, Legos, sports, science, all kinds of stuff! Boys like to be physical, you could probably get good response by starting a game of catch, kicking around a soccer ball, etc. I guess it all depends on what the boy likes to do, do you have any information or guidance? My boys like to be goofy, don't want too much sentiment. They both like going to our local science museum, and it's a good way to spend time with them without being too obvious. They also like to go to the arcade and the movies. I hope this helps!
