Need Some Advice

Welcome to the board! Despite what your DS says, there are plenty of parents that check their kids' FB pages and text messages. I think at least with FB, most parents I have talked with at the very least are friend's with their kids on FB to monitor what is public on the site to make sure they aren't saying inappropriate things on a public forum. At the least I always recommend that you have access and let your child know that cell phones and computers/FB are privileges, not a right and they need to show they can be trusted with the responsibility of it. As for dating, you can always limit it as much as you want outside of school, but inside school, it's pretty hard to control it. And the more you forbid it, the more Romeo and Juliet it gets and what may have fizzled out in a few short weeks or months may be drug out much longer just to spite you. The only thing I can really suggest is continually talking with him about making good, especially with things like picturing messaging and FB.
