Aging off soon......I remember

.......when I joined this board and Matthew wasn't quite 10 yet.  LOL  Now he's about to turn 15 and ageing off.  But I get to stick around legitimately because of Katie and Natalie.  LOL  I will probably stay even after they age off.  I just can't believe how fast the time goes.  My son is starting to think about colleges.  Right now we are at the thinking about stage.  I am concerned about him going away for college but I think it'd be good for him.  He's such a mama's boy that he needs to gain more independence by moving out.  He leaning towards Auburn University which I am cool with.  It'd be cheaper for him to go to University of Alabama - Huntsville, but that is home.

So all of this is swirling around in my head and making sure to be proactive in helping him make the right decision.  Making sure he utilizes the college counselors at the school.  I am going to enjoy him and appreciate him even more the next 4 years cause before I know it he will be a grown man and not living at home.  Make sure to nit rush things along, slow it all down as much as I can.  LOL

I am ageing off too; my  baby Matthew just turned 15 on TuesdaySurprised.  I haven't been around much lately but started around here when my oldest son Alex was about 12. He is going to be 19 on Saturday!  However I still plan on popping in now and again.

I will be leaving this board in the spring, sniff, sniff. I know you are still on other boards. It is hard that they grow up too fast.

Thanks Tracy.  Well, I hope I have done alright by him.  I was looking through his book bag last night to see how his grades have started off and so far so good.  He's getting his homework done in a timely manner without me even saying anything.  That is different.  He is making good grades so far.  He is having a blast in Honors Biology and his grades there are also great.  I will be honest.  I know he can carry this class alright.  It's going to be a new intensity he's never had.  Things have been pretty much easy for him and he's not challenged too much.  He seemed to struggle in Pre-Algebra but I know he gets it cause he helps his sisters with their homework in math when I just can't.  I am still nervous he's going to bomb this class.  But as excited as he is about it and his teacher knows now how much he loves this class and is into it I am hoping she will check with him when he seems to be having any struggles.  She attended Auburn University and he has already talked with her about their program there and she knows he is interested in Biotech.  So they are two peas in a pod.  LOL  They have plenty to talk about.

This child amazes me.  He has done so much research on his own out of curiosity about all this science stuff and it blows my mind what he knows.  I mean regular science stuff he was learning up until last year he has known for years.  He's been so bored in science class.  I really really hope this class is a challenge for him and causes him to study and learn something new and more in depth.

I know what you mean about how fast these years go Chelle! When Kayleigh aged out at 14, Ian was turning 10 - but he'll be 14 in just 10 months now.
Definitely make good use of the guidance counselors at school, but I'd suggest doing lots of research about colleges, programs, classes he needs to take now, etc. on your own. I was always a lot of steps ahead of the guidance counselor :smileyhappy:

We love having you around Chelle, and even when Katie and natalie age off you are always welcome! You have done a fine job so far with Matthew, you should be so proud of him! Enjoy these next 4 years with him!!
