My 13 yo DS has fears about a lot of things. It's not ruining his life, but I wonder where he got this from. Neither my ex or I are like this. Yesterday he said that whenever I left the house, he was nervous that I would get in a car accident. I don't know where this came from, I have never been in a car accident that was serious, nor has anyone in the family or his friends. He also says he doesn't want to travel if it involves going on a plane or boat. Now he has been on plane trips of several hours at least 4 times and nothing happened. He also went on a cruise w/ his dad last summer for a week and everyone survived. So where does this come from? His dad & stepmom went to Florida for a week and when they come back, just coincidentally, I am going, but only for a few days. We will have to call him and tell him that we landed ok, which is fine. I don't think it arises to the need for therapy since it doesn't really stop him from doing things, but he has always been anxious and worried about things more than the other kids.

Hey Musiclover...

Here's a link to a book that I found about help for worried kids: http://books.google.com/books?id=Za123eUlbbgC

I hope this helps.

He is very smart, an A student and maybe has a vivid imagination. He doesn't like to watch the news cause it scares him, so I watch it after he goes to bed. He generally doesn't watch scary shows, that's why I especially didn't want him to go to a gory movie (see Saw post).
