First, he is an only child for a while as we dropped dd off at college.  They are quite close, even though he is stoic, I am sure he misses her knowing she is gone for a long time.  I was fine, trust me I fell apart and Kindergarden, but no issues with college!?!?!  Daddy, though, was much more sad.

Then, he is starting High School!!  Wow!!

Third, he is playing high school football.  He played peewee ball before, but this is much tougher.   He has a lot of friends on his team.  He loves his coach and may try wrestling too.

My oldest has been at school for almost a week.

She's horrible about checking voicemail.  Even worse about calling home.  We did get a phone call 48 hours after she'd been in the dorm.  And she called us on Tuesday- but we told her to call us b/c we had to put a pet down and we didn't want her to find out on facebook.

But- she's really good about answering texts.  Her dad and I have texted her, and she's back with one by the end of the evening.  Usually by 9pm.

I guess any kind of message from her is ok :smileyhappy:

Poor guy!  I'm sure he will take it in stride.  Sometimes, we get overwhelmed with the thought of things, but they hold their own somehow.

Hang in there mom!

Sounds like he is set for some great opportunities. I love the start of each school year and all the new possibilities. Between email, texting, and skype, I'm sure he and his sister can easily keep in touch.

I can imagine how he feels, the middle one is already asking what's going to happen when jordyn leaves for college and we still have a year! How have 2adays for high school football been this summer? Sounds like he is in for lots of changes, but it sounds like he'll adjust well. How far is DD away at college? Will she been gone all the way til Thanksgiving or will she be home for a visit before then?
