DH and I had a discussion the other night at dinner. Apparently DSS's mom got him an iPhone for Christmas and I mentioned that I didn't really feel it was necessary for a 12/13 year old to have an iPhone, especially considering he has had his washed at least once or twice, lost a few times, etc., but really because I didn't see a reason for that age to be on the Internet, especially since he is already obsessed with video games. DH said he didn't see a problem with it, "boys are different" and having access to video games on the iPhone was a big deal. And he thought my thoughts giving them unlimited access to the internet, porn, etc, was just being overreactive. I am glad he's not with us full time where we would have to deal with this issue. May e by the time the little girls are older we'll be a little closer to on the same page on these things.

I'm with you Tracy. Evan (15) spends far too much time on the Internet and it isn't all school work either. Megan (6th grade) does need to use it a little bit for school but we've been running into problems with her and the Internet lately. I still haven't let her on Facebook and don't plan to for quite some time. She gets very upset about the things others say and it will only add to the drama we already have. Not to mention the potential for creeps.

I'm with you on that Tracy.NOt sure why a 12/13 year old needs internet access 24/7.Especially since he is addicted to video games already.Of course Gab has an ipod touch and shecan get on the internet from there, but at least she needs wifi.I do know though that there were cheating issues at Gab's school because of the wifi, since most everyone brings their ipods to school. Not sure how the teacher did not see them but...
