My 10 year old is an awesome kid....just one concern as a first time mom of a son. His best friend right now is a girl, same age, and they are together alot. Should I be cncerned that she is the one he wants to invite places instead of one of the boys from school? Should I be concerned if he is more comfortable with girls as friends now than boys? Help!!

I don't think this is a problem, as long as he gets along with boys his age too. Your best friends are people whom you can realte to, not always having to be a particular gender. My dd, 10, best friend is a girl, but is almost her only same gender friend. Everyone else she hangs out with are boys. (Makes me gald she's into martial arts;))

I think it's OK for a 10-year-old boy to be friends with a girl the same age. I wish I had had a friend of ANY kind at that age! I wouldn't be too concerned.
