I am looking for some advice on explaining to my son what periods are. He thinks tampons and pads are for bladder control and therefor I have some serious bladder issues! I know as a good mama I need to beable to teach him this. Some ideas? Is there a site, maybe, where I could print something out for him to read and then talk about it? Thank you, thank you, thank you!

First, I have to tell you that he is not the only boy who thinks women have bladder control issues and that's what the pads, etc are for.

I would tell him what they're for, tie them into what he should already know about how babies are conceived, that every month a woman''s body prepares to conceive a baby and every month that a baby isn't conceived, the lining from the uterus is shed and that's what the products are used for.

You would know his level of maturity and how much information is appropriate for him at this stage.
