What a great idea! Here's a thought... melt some chocolate and dip big stick pretzels in it and then roll in/decorate w/sprinkles. Let cool on wax paper while doing something else. Eat!!! Yummmmmmmm. These are also very cute in a cellophane bag tied with cute ribbon. A few tips: a really small crockpot (the sauce size)works really well for this. Also, line the crockpot with a crockpot liner (found near the ziplocs, plastic wrap, etc.) for easy clean up. A fondue pot might work well too.
White chocolate is always a fun alternative to milk chocolate. It might be fun to make chocolate candies with the candy molds from the craft store. Hot chocolate, chocolate milk, chocolate sodas, etc. might be fun. My kids love the Magic Shell topping that gets hard after you put in on the ice cream. If it's cold where you live, it might be fun to give the girls homemade hot chocolate mix in a jar to take home (recipe on the web somewhere). Ooooh, oooooh... you could wrap the invitations (white ink on brown paper or brown on white paper which would use more ink) around Hershey's chocolate bars.
Just a few thoughts!! Ok now I'm hungry! If you have specific things you get stuck on, give me a shout out. I love this kind of thing!!!
If you're going girly they could do manicures using chocolate colored nail polish or maybe you could see if they have chocolate facial stuff at the store. I know one of the spas here does a chocolate spa day with a chocolate body wrap so I think chocolate is pretty popular in the beauty section so you could look around for something chocolately.
You could also watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or play the sound track while they do their nails.
I've also done a quick google search and there are a few songs out there called chocolate or about chocolate, Kylie Minogue and Snow Patrol each do one. Maybe you could download them as well. There are also some little kid songs that would be funny.
They could also do a chocolate painting. Melt some different types of chocolate (dark, milk, white) and then they could use paint brushes to paint a chocolate painting. Let it dry and then they can take it home as well. You'd just have to keep the chocolate warm so it doesn't harden up on them while they try to paint.
Sounds like a blast. Hope she has a wonderful 13th. Guess I should start thinking about that too.
Uh this isn't meant as a criticism or anything but I own the Snow Patrol CD that has the song Chocolate & I'm not sure why its titled that but really has nothing to do w/the food LOL. I think its fine for teens, its alternative music ;-) my 11.5 yo likes it fine.
