..video game? (I am writing an article, any help would be appreciated!)

I'm specifically looking for something that would be common for a 10-14 yr old to be playing but which is not necessarily looked at favorably by parents. Thanks if you can help me out! my kids are still too young for me to know anything about this!

hi welcome to our board. I would love to answer your questions but I do not allow video games in my house. But you might go and google xbox games and popular video games. I am sure you will find one or two that your looking for. Good luck on your article.

Well, why I DO limit the time spent plopped on booties in front of the tv or computer, our winters are so yucky and cold that yes I DO allow video games! My son is 15 now, but he's spent the past few years playing mostly car racing games. Need for Speed and Grand Turismo are a couple of his favorites, and why they're rated Everyone my main issue with them is the lyrics in the music. There are other where you steal others cars and such but I won't allow them in my house knowingly. As for Role Playing games, 007 Nightfire (James Bond) is rated Teen because they shoot at bad guys with guns and blow stuff up, but it's not too graphic. Dad brought home Ghost Recon which is rate Mature. It's a miltiary type game and the killing is a bit more graphic..again, NOT something I'm pleased with but I choose my battles. At least both of these are good guys/bad guys genre and not randomly killing people. There, now you know my dirty lil secret! LOL!

We don't do Xbox or game systems, but I do allow limited computer and/or online games.

We have a PS2, but both of my boys are limited to 2 hours a week play time. I do not allow any games unless they are rated E. My DS11 knows that if he goes to a friends house, and they play video games, he is not allowed to play rated T or M games. He's actually had to tell his friends this (some of he friends can play whatever they want!). He's pretty good about following the rules away from home too!

Lucky for me, my DS11 is mainly into sports games. He has very little interest in fantasy or other types of games.

We have several computers, and PSone and PS2 - so we do quite a bit of gaming at our house - however there are rules about what's allowed - While we do allow some strategy based killings (like Age of Empires and Morrowind) most killing/ drug related/ stealing type games are out.

My 10yo son plays Lego Star Wars, Zelda, and Pokemon. He used to play Super Smash Brothers, but not so much anymore.

Right now he is into Runescape.

let's see, we have the ps2, gamecube, nintedo 64, the wii, and several hand held game systems. I would say the most popular games in our house are the mario/luigi games. Mario party, super smash bros, basically anything with mario in it. For ps2 they have an alien game and the hulk. gamecube also has harvest moon, sims pets, and animal crossing..three other fav's in our house.
