Aging off this board
15
Wed, 01-11-2012 - 2:34pm

My son turns 15 next week, so I probably won't be around here much longer. (I may pop in once in a while to see what's going on with you guys, though.) I just wanted to say thanks for the great advice and wise words from all of you, and to wish you all well.

It sounds like a cliche, but time really does go by so quickly! My DD is a junior in HS and we're planning a trip to look at colleges this spring. I honestly can't believe how quickly the days have passed. I remember when she turned 10 and I started lurking on the preteen board, or whatever it was called in those days. Now my youngest child is 6 feet tall and I have to highlight my hair to cover up the gray. Next stop, AARP.....

I've been lurking on the teens board and don't like it.

I agree! There are some posters with difficult discipline issues, but most parents of teens aren't in that category. I actually happen to like my kids and really enjoy their company, and most of the time, they speak respectfully to me and to each other.

I lurk on the teen board, but you're right, sometimes it's a bit of a downer with all the stuff going on, it makes you think the majority of teens have issues when that's just not true. It's obviously great to have a support board for the ones that definitely need it, but yes, it's nice to have a well rounded board showing both sides of the fence. As slow as it has become, I do like the surviving middle school and high school because it tends to be more well rounded.

Hard to believe. I'll miss you! Our oldests are the same age and you've been here as long as I remember. I still have a couple of years left on the board though, since Ian is only going to be 13 in June. Keep in touch! xoxo

Nice to "see" you Linda! How are things going? Is the oldest graduating this year or already graduated?
