I hope Alex is feeling better soon. I don't know your child of course, but I'd think it would be pretty unlikely that he'd spontaneously wake up in the middle of the night to tell you that he'd gotten sick.

I wouldn't say he's ever out-and-out faked being sick, but there are definitely times that he will play up an illness to stay home.
